I totally lost myself the other day. I went to buy flowers and like a beacon of light calling me, I walked unconsciously straight into Space NK where I surrendered my senses and my wallet.
The brand By Terry has been on my radar for quite a while. I once got my makeup done at Mecca Cosmetica (Sydney's version of Space NK) and the makeup artist took great delight in telling me that the By Terry mascara she used on me cost $70. I was scared and ran.
Fast forward a couple of years and after reading so many positive things about the brand I was ready to investigate. It truly is at the luxurious end of the makeup spectrum, being the brainchild of French makeup artist Terry de Gunzburg. Terry created Touche Eclat for YSL. Need I say more?
In the interest of trying to branch out in my personal makeup usage, I picked up three products that were different to anything else I had but which may seem slightly quirky to some. Rose de Rose Blush Fluid in 3 Amber Rose is a gorgeous sheer liquid blush in a rose-gold colour with a subtle shimmer. When I first pumped a little of it out onto my hand I was blown away by the most amazing rose smell ever. It is truly beautiful. The blush was very easy to apply with either my finger or a foundation brush and the best bit was the staying power, it far outlasted my other favourite cream blush the Stila Convertible Colour.
This costs Β£40.00 at Space NK or $98.00 at Mecca Cosmetica in Australia. Remember, this falls under the luxury umbrella and a bottle should last you in excess of 1 year!
I also bought purple mascara. There, i've said it. I actually did and it looks really pretty when applied over a layer of black mascara. It really amps up the green in my eyes. It is called Mascara Terrybly in 4 Purple Success. It is also a growth boosting mascara which activates growth and gives volume. Here is the link to where you can buy it at Space NK, it costs Β£31.00. As previously mentioned, it costs $70 in Australia and you can buy it here.
The Ombre Blackstar "Colour-Fix" Cream Eyeshadow was the product I had read the most about. Everyone raves about it - and for good reason. It is a creamy soft-edged pencil that goes on like a dream and just does not budge. I bought the colour 9. Velvet Orchid to work in with the mascara and it is a divine rich dark purple. It comes in 13 colours which you can view here and in the UK they cost Β£27.50. If you are in Australia you can buy them for $62.00 here.
An interesting side note: in writing this post and finding the links of where you can buy these products in Australia, I came across an interesting note to customers on the Mecca Cosmetica homepage. Basically they are starting to reduce their pricing to bring it more in line with international cosmetic prices! I say yay and it's about time! In starting this blog it has become glaringly obvious how overpriced most things are in Australia and I applaud Mecca for recognising this and starting to make amends. It would be nice if other followed suit ....
